New Heating System for King Edwards School

Story

Weatherite Building Services has provided a new boiler system for King Edwards VI Girls’ School, Handsworth in Birmingham.

The school is a voluntary aided grammar for girls aged 11-18. When it became evident the boiler system was in need of complete replacement, the consultant engineers, Briars Associates, chose Weatherite Building Services to project manage the installation work.

In a contract worth over £154,000, Weatherite supplied and installed three new Hoval Cosmo 660kW boilers, complete with associated flues, Grundfos circulation pumps and a new pressurisation unit. The company also modified pipework and provided all the electrical installation wiring work and management controls for the system.

The work also involved the installation of a new external mains pipe linking the boiler house to the sports hall and science blocks. New thermostatic radiator valves were also fitted within the main school buildings.

Briar Associates chose Weatherite because of the group’s excellent reputation for reliability and its ability to carry out the work with minimum disruption to the normal running of the school. Its solution also met the strict budget requirements of the project.
